License Renewal-Standard Professional II License Requirements

EC and Student Services Staff: The EC Department and CCS Licensure recommend that all school based EC teachers should complete the 3 Literacy renewal credits in case they transfer or get moved into K-8 positions during their renewal cycle. The CCS Student Services Department recommends that all school based Counselors, Psychologists, and Social Workers should complete the 3 Literacy renewal credits in case they transfer or get moved into K-8 positions during their renewal cycle.

New Information Regrading Literacy Credits: Effective with licenses renewing 6/30/2016 and beyond, literacy professional development must meet the following:

  • Literacy: shall include evidence-based assessment, diagnosis, and intervention strategies for students not demonstrating reading proficiency. Oral language, phonemic and phonological awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension shall be addressed in literacy-related activities leading to license renewal for elementary and middle school teachers.

Some credits that were offered in the past that included global, computer, and financial literacy do not qualify under the newest definition and are being moved to Technology or Academic credits. HR/Licensure is already working on cleaning up those renewing in 2016. This is an on-going process.
